Energy Solutions is established to break down siloes and facilitate consensus between political groups and industry when discussing common policy options to meet the EU 2030 energy and climate ambitions as part of the European Energy Union.
Energy Solutions is initiated by Mr. Morten Helveg Petersen, Vice President to the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE Committee) and a member of the European Parliament (ALDE, DK) together with founding members from four different political groups in the European Parliament and member states, including Mrs. Angelika Niebler (EPP, GE), Mr. Miroslav Poche (S&D, Czech Republic), Mr. Ian Duncan (ECR, UK), and Mr. Claude Turmes (Greens, Luxembourg).
The industry is represented by sector-first-movers on energy solutions such as 3M, DONG Energy, Danfoss, GE, Grundfos, EDF, EoN, Microsoft, Panasonic, the ROCKWOOL Group, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Velux, Vestas.
The ROCKWOOL Group joins the new network to support well-functioning energy systems in the EU.
Actively contributing to the debate
2016 is set to be a crucial year for the EU's long-term energy and climate ambitions. By the end of the year the European Commission will have presented 90% of the legislation designed to create a European Energy Union, one of the biggest political projects ever undertaken in European history. Legislation will soon move into the European Parliament that will begin negotiations on important subjects such as energy market design, renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy performance of buildings.
Taking a wide-angle approach, the Energy Solutions network will contribute to the dialogue around the legislation, helping the EU to shape a future looking highly efficient and sustainable energy framework.
