The Sino-German Ecological Park Passive House Experience Center is located in the core area of Qingdao Sino-German Ecological Park. The project started construction in March 2015 and was officially put into use in September 2016. The project is a comprehensive building that integrates the functions of passive ultra-low energy green building technology research and development, experience, exhibition, conference and residence. The Sino-German Ecological Park Passive House Experience Center has a total area of nearly 14,000 square meters. It has 5 floors above ground, 1 underground and 1 underground. It is the first highest standard passive house project in Asia for technical cooperation between China and Germany. The energy-saving operation mode regularly provides operational energy consumption figures, establishes passive building operation data, and provides big data support and technical consultation for passive buildings in the future.
Passive House is a new building model built on the basis of low-energy buildings in Germany in the 1980s. The building uses a sealed structure. The building materials use mature and durable insulation materials and components, eliminating the need for traditional heating. And the refrigeration system, the extremely low-energy building that can maintain the comfortable temperature of the human body in all seasons. The passive building is an energy-saving building technology that integrates high comfort and low energy consumption. There are five core elements of a passive building: superior insulation, sash and glass with good insulation, no heat bridge design and construction, a closed maintenance structure, and an efficient heat recovery or energy recovery fresh air system.
Passive houses have eliminated the traditional heating system and are mainly insulated by insulation and air-tightness. The insulation layer of the Passive House Experience Center of Sino-German Ecological Park uses Rockwell insulation wool, with a thickness of 150~250mm. The superior thermal insulation performance and outstanding durability of ROCKWOOL stone wool can be highly recognized by the owner and the designer to ensure that the project will always perform the performance and function required by the design during the later use.
Passive rooms can achieve no air conditioning in summer and no heating in winter. The indoors are maintained at 18-26 degrees throughout the year, effectively improving indoor comfort. Through the use of high-quality insulation materials in passive buildings, the energy-saving and consumption reduction of the passive housing experience center of Sino-German Ecological Park is amazing. It is estimated that energy consumption can be saved once a year by 1.3 million KWh, saving operating costs of 550,000 yuan and reducing carbon emissions, completely passed the Passive House Certification of the German Passive House Research Institute (PHI), and at the same time reached the domestic green building Samsung certification, becoming the largest passive building in Asia with the most complex functions in the world. It was successfully selected into the 2017 Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Science and Technology project. Since the beginning of the project, ROCKWOOL China has been involved in the construction of the passive housing experience center of Sino-German Ecological Park. The high-quality building insulation performance brought by ROCKWOOL has become the key to the success of this passive housing project.
