Protecting the pathway
From water and electric through to gas and broadband, service lines need to run through the length and breadth of a building to deliver utilities where they are needed. At the same time, the pathways they make through the environment also create a direct line for fire and smoke to pass through compartment lines. As such, service penetrations must be adequately fire protected to minimise the risk of fire spreading. Coupled with the fact that there are a wide range of service lines which could be installed, from copper and steel through plastic, all of which will react differently when exposed to fire – treating areas which have been penetrated by services is both complex and critical. ROCKWOOL offers a comprehensive range of fire protection and thermal insulation for pipes and both circular and rectangular ductwork.
